During the Day of the Dead celebration, CalArts joined in the festivities for a week, with students coming together to commemorate lost loved ones, celebrate together through performances of traditional Mexican dances and workshops .
As Creative Director, I was responsible for initiating and overseeing the production from start to finish. My role included budgeting for the event, meeting with multiple faculty members to secure funding, applying for grants, and coordinating approvals to host the event in the CalArts Main Gallery. In addition, I designed the central installation and planned the week-long programming. I also curated an art market by reaching out to local Latinx artists from Los Angeles and invited guest artists to host a screen-printing collage workshop where participants created miniature altars honoring their loved ones.
